Miller Park and the Milwaukee Brewers host the surging Philadelphia Phillies in Friday action.
The Philadelphia Phillies have escaped the National League East basement so the goal is to remain out of the cellar. The Phillies defeated Arizona 7-6 on the road Wednesday to avoid getting swept with their offense carrying the load. Starter Aaron Nola gave up four runs on nine hits over five innings which was good enough to get the win. Cameron Rupp paced a 13 hit attack with a three run homer while knocking four altogether while Andres Blanco smacked a solo bomb. Rookie Adam Morgan toes the rubber Friday for his first ever meeting with Milwaukee. Morgan comes off of a 4-2 win at San Diego where he gave up an earned run on six hits in six innings.

The Milwaukee Brewers are playing for pride at this point of the season with the hope of taking down as many postseason hopeful teams as possible. That didn’t happen Thursday in a 9-2 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Cubs. Nothing went favorably for the Brewers as starter Tyler Cravy gave up four runs on four hits and four BB through 4.1 frames before four relievers gave up a combined five runs. The Brew Crew couldn’t keep up with their nine hits with Ryan Braun going 3-4 with an RBI while Hernan Perez went 2-4 with an RBI single. The Brewers are slated to send Wily Peralta to the bump to cool down the Philadelphia offense. Peralta threw the ball well last time out in a 3-0 loss to the Cardinals with all three runs scored on five hits over seven frames.
Philadelphia are 16-6 in their last 22 games on grass and are 17-7 in their last 24 overall while going 22-48 in their last 70 road games. The under is 12-5-2 in Milwaukee’s last 19 overall and the under is 12-5-2 in their last 19 on grass while the Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10 Friday games. Perhaps the Phillies stay on their hot run and I hope so but they won’t continue winning so don’t go crazy with them….
