The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Saturday in game three of their MLB series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from Thursday’s loss to the Reds by getting the win on Friday. Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run, Enrique Hernandez had three hits, and Jimmy Rollins and Justin Turner each had two hits as the Dodgers scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Alex Wood allowed five hits and three runs while striking out three over 6.1 innings to get the win and go to 8-7 for the season and Kenley Jansen earned his 23rd save. For Saturday’s game the Dodgers start Brett Anderson who has allowed 135 hits and 49 earned runs while striking out 87 over 128.2 innings for a 6-7 record and a 3.43 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds have long since packed it in for this season but they have been competitive despite losing on Friday. Joey Votto hit a home run and Eugenio Suarez and Brandon Phillips each had a hit as the Reds scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher John Lamb allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Reds start David Holmberg who has allowed 13 hits and six runs while striking out 12 over 17.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 3.06 ERA.
Los Angeles is 15-4 in game three of a series, 4-1 at home against a left-handed starter, and 4-0 in Anderson’s last four starts in game three of a series. Cincinnati is 31-67 in their last 98 road games, 3-8 as an underdog, and 9-23 against the NL West. Cincinnati is 2-7 in their last nine games in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers have been so solid at home but the Reds are swinging away and I see them getting the best of Anderson as he has just never lived up to expectations.
