The Tampa Bay Rays look to get back in the win column with a win at the Texas Rangers in Sunday action.
The Tampa Bay Rays are looking to avoid getting swept at Texas and focus on the postseason. The Rays might be in trouble after getting hammered 12-4 at Texas on Saturday night. Starter Chris Archer was needed in a big way but instead he was tagged for eight runs on eleven hits and four BB with Kirby Yates allowing four more. The bats logged ten hits and walked three times with Asdrubal Cabrera going solo while Evan Longoria drove in two with John Jaso driving in a run and scoring. Tampa Bay sends Drew Smyly to the hill for his 4th start of the year when he opposes Texas on Sunday. Smyly dropped a 2-0 decision at Boston last time out with a solo homer allowed over six innings.

The Texas Rangers are battling to get above .500 and stay there if they expect to see the playoffs. The Rangers have now won three in a row after their lopsided win on Saturday. Colby Lewis didn’t need much help with only a run allowed on five hit through six frames while the offense pound Tampa Bay pitching for 14 hits and four walks. The Long ball was pivotal with Shin-Soo Choo, Chris Gimenez and Adrian Beltre each going deep and driving in three runs apiece. Veteran Yovani Gallardo faces off with visiting Tampa Bay for the second time in 2015. Gallado did not get a decision in a 3-2 loss at Minnesota with a two hit shutout over 5.2 frames.
The over is 7-2 in Tampa Bay’s last 9 overall and is 10-3-2 in their last 15 on grass while going 6-2 in their last 8 road games. Texas are 1-9 in their last 10 Sunday games and are 3-8 in their last 11 games as a favorite while the under is 41-16-3 in their last 60 Sunday games. The under is 6-1-2 in the last 9 meetings in Texas. Perhaps Tampa Bay small but they are not trustworthy in my view…
