The Minnesota Twins travel to the Big Apple to tangle with the New York Yankees on Monday.
The Minnesota Twins are in desperate need of a long hot streak to get back in the Wild Card race. After losing two of three the Twins ended their series with a 4-1 win against visiting Cleveland on Sunday. Starter Tommy Milone improved to 6-3 with a run given up on three hits and three free passes over five innings while four relievers held the Indians bats in check. The bats did their damage on nine hits and three walks with Trevor Plouffe smacking a solo bomb while Kurt Suzuki ripped a two run single. The Twins kick off their series with the Yankees with Kyle Gibson on the bump. Gibson comes off of a 3-2 win versus visiting Texas with both runs plated on seven hits in six frames.

The New York Yankees are trying to regroup and retake the lead in the American League East. The Yankees saw a three game winning streak end along with a chance to sweep the Blue Jays go by the wayside in a 3-1 loss at the Rogers Centre on Sunday. Rookie Luis Severino fell to 0-2 with all three runs plated through six frames which was to much for the Yanks four hit attack that produced a Jacoby Ellsbury solo homer. Veteran left hander CC Sabathia looks to get back in the win column with a win against visiting Minnesota. Sabathia dropped a 2-1 decision at Cleveland where he gave up both runs on nine hits in six innings.
Minnesota are 8-20 in their last 28 road games and are 4-10 in their last 14 Monday games while going 6-14 in their last 20 overall. The under is 13-3-1 in the Yankees last 17 home games and is 8-2 in their last 10 overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass. The over is 7-1 in Sabathia’s last 8 starts vs. Minnesota and the Twins are 13-38 in the last 51 meetings. I lean Yankees here but any juice scares me because this isn’t vintage Sabathia…
