The San Francisco Giants couldn’t solve Cardinals pitching on Monday as they took the loss. Brandon Crawford had two hits and Brandon Belt and Matt Duffy each had hits as the Giant scored one run on six hits. Starting pitcher Christopher Heston allowed four hits and a run while striking gout four over 4.2 innings to not get a decision as Hunter Strickland took the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Giants start Ryan Vogelsong who has allowed 106 hits and 51 earned runs while striking out 89 over 110.2 innings for an 8-8 record and a 4.15 ERA.

St. Louis is 7-1 against the NL West, 10-3 in their last 13 games, and 4-1 in Lynn’s last five starts against the NL West. San Francisco is 25-8 in game two of a series, 2-6 in their last eight games as an underdog, and 1-4 in Vogelsong’s last five starts. San Francisco is 5-2 in Vogelsong’s last seven starts against St. Louis.

This one is a tough call but just when the Giants seem to be reeling they always seem to come up with a strong game and this looks like one of those spots for them.
