The Kansas City Royals are motoring towards another American League Central title with wins in eight of ten heading in to Tuesday’s bout at Great American Ball Park. The Royals continued to motor with a 3-1,13 inning win. Edinson Volquez gave up the lone run on a solo jack over six frames with seven relievers putting up zeros. KC logged 12 hits and walked thee times with Ben Zobrist going deep and driving in two. Jeremy Guthrie gets the call to the mound to oppose Cincinnati for the second time in 2015. The Cincinnati Reds are out to spoil the playoff hopes of others but have been struggling to do that. The Reds let one get away Tuesday with a blown 9th inning lead as Raisel Iglesias tossed seven scoreless innings before Aroldis Chapman served up a solo homer that sent the game to extras. Ryan Mattheus gave up two runs in the 13th without recording an out to absorb the loss. The bats were limited to five hits and walked six times with Eugenio Suarez accounting for the only run with a solo blast. Rookie Keyvius Sampson makes just his 4th start of the season when he opposes Kansas City. Sampson defeated the Dodgers 10-3 last time out with two runs plated on five hits and three BB over five innings.
Kansas City are 8-2 in their last 10 overall and the over is 7-2 in their last 9 Wednesday games while the Royals are 2-6 in their last 8 road games. Cincinnati are 7-2 in their last 9 Wednesday games and are 3-9 in their last 12 overall while going 3-9 in their last 12 games on grass. Kansas City are 7-1 in the last 8 meetings. I’m going with the red hot Royals but I’m not confident in Guthrie…
