The New York Mets continue their series with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Saturday.
The New York Mets are looking to stretch their lead in the National League East but haven’t been playing well the past week. The Mets had lost four of five before a 14-9 series opening win at Coors Field. Bartolo Colon was charged with seven runs on nine hits including three bombs over 3.2 frames but he was bailed out by the bats. The Mets amassed a 15 hit, four walk attack with Yoenis Cespedes launching three homers and driving in seven with Travis d’Arnaud and Michael Conforto going solo.Lefty Jon Niese toes the rubber against the Rockies at Coors Field on Saturday. Niese comes off of a 5-3 defeat to Pittsburgh where he gave up three runs on five hits including a pair of homers in six frames.

The Colorado Rockies are hoping for a strong finish to the season but things have not been going their way. The Rockies bats came to life Friday but the pitching didn’t help in Friday’s defeat. Starter Jonathan Gray was charged with seven runs through 1.2 frames with four relievers allowing six runs. The Rockies amassed 13 hits and walked three times with Ben Paulsen going solo with Nolan Arenado going deep, driving in four and scoring three while Carlos Gonzalez left the yard and scored three times. Left hander Christopher Rusin shoots for consecutive victories when he opposes the Mets for the second time in 2015. Rusin comes off his best career start in a complete game five hit shutout of San Diego.
