The Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue Jays face off on Sunday in Anaheim as they close out their MLB series of post-season contenders.
The Los Angeles Angels have slipped to third place in the American League West and out of the Wildcard picture as they lost to the Blue Jays on Saturday. C.J. Cron and Kaleb Howard each hit home runs and Erick Aybar had two hits as the Angels scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Andrew Heaney allowed seven hits and eight runs while striking out three and lasting just 3.1 innings to take the loss and falling to 5-2 for the season. For Sunday’s series finale the Angeles start Garrett Richards who has allowed 132 hits and 58 earned runs while striking out 117 over 149 innings for a 12-9 record and a 3.50 ERA.

The Toronto Blue Jays continued their strong play on Saturday as they clobbered the Angels. Josh Donaldson and Chris Colabello each hit home runs and Jose Bautista added three hits as the Blue Jays scored 15 runs on 20 hits. Starting pitcher Marco Estrada allowed five hits and three runs while striking out four over 5.2 innings to get the win and raise his record to 11-7 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Blue Jays start R.A. Dickey who has allowed 151 hits and 74 earned runs while striking out 99 over 161 innings for a 7-10 record and a 4.14 ERA.
Los Angeles is 9-3 against the AL East, 36-15 as a favorite, and 26-10 in Richards’ last 36 home starts. Toronto is 6-1 in their last seven road games, 20-7 in their last 27 games, and 4-9 in Dickey’s last 13 road starts. Toronto is 7-14 in their last 21 games against Los Angeles.
