The Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox face off on Tuesday in Chicago for game two of their MLB series.
The Chicago White Sox rallied late on Monday but came up short as they lost to the Red Sox. Jose Abreu hit a home run, Avisail Garcia had two hits, and Adam Eaton had a hit as the White Sox scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Jeff Samadzija allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-10 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has allowed 174 hits and 64 earned runs while striking out 134 over 160 innings for a 7-10 record and a 3.60 ERA.

The Boston Red Sox put up all of their runs in the first two-thirds of the game on Monday and then held on as they got the win in Chicago. Rusney Castillo hit a home run and Brock Holt and Ryan Hanigan each had two hits as the White Six scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Joe Kelly allowed five hits and two runs while striking out four over 7.1 innings to get the win and go to 7-6 for the season and Jean Machi earned his second save. For Tuesday’s game the Red Sox start Wade Miley who has allowed 147 hits and 72 earned runs while striking out 112 over 147 innings for a 10-9 record and a 4.41 ERA.
Chicago is 5-1 in their last six games as a favorite, 2-6 against the AL East, and 0-4 in Quintana’s last four home starts. Boston is 6-2 in their last eight games as an underdog, 4-9 in their last 13 road games against a team with a losing record, and 1-4 in Miley’s last four road starts.
