The Tampa Bay Rays hope to get in the win column against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.
The Minnesota Twins have started to heat up over the past week or so and can’t afford to let up. The Twins stayed in the playoff hunt with an 11-7 victory at Tampa Bay for their 5th straight. Starter Ervin Santana gave up five runs over 2.2 frames but five relievers held off the Rays. The offense pounded TB pitching for eleven hits and five walks with Eddie Rosario, Brian Dozier and Miguel Sano going deep and driving in six while Torii Hunter and Byron Buxton drove in two runs each. Minnesota sends rookie Tyler Duffey to the hill to oppose Tampa Bay for his 4th start. Duffey comes off of a 15-2 rout of the Orioles with both runs plated on ten hits over 7.2 frames.

The Tampa Bay Rays have no time for losing streaks of any length with time sure to run out on them. The Rays might be one of the more disappointing teams in 2015 as they are just trying to stay above .500. TB has dropped back to back contests with starter Nathan Karns getting tagged for five runs in three frames with Matt Andriese allowing five more in three innings. The Rays totaled 13 hits and walked five times with Curt Casali going solo while James Loney went 3-5 with a run and three RBI’s.Tampa Bay hands the ball to Chris Archer to end the series with visiting Minnesota. Archer is coming off his best career start in a 1-0 win at Houston where he tossed a complete game one hitter.
Minnesota are 9-27 in their last 36 games on astroturf and are 8-20 in their last 28 games as an underdog while the under is 19-9-1 in the Twins last 29 on astroturf. Tampa Bay are 1-7 in their last 8 Wednesday games with the over going 7-1 in their last 8 during game 2 of a series while the under is 9-4-2 in Archer’s last 15 on astroturf. Minnesota are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Tampa Bay and are 9-23 in the last 32 meetings. I’m with Tampa Bay but they aren’t good and I’ll likely just watch it…
