The Chicago Cubs continue their west coast swing with a stop to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Chicago Cubs have been red hot as they try to nail down a spot in the postseason. After winning six straight the Cubs have dropped back to back contests following a 9-1 defeat at San Francisco on Thursday. Starter Dan Haren gave up five runs on six hits and a trio of BB over 6.1 fames to absorb the loss before James Russell served up an 8th inning grand slam. The offense totaled three hits and walked twice with Starlin Castro doubling in Anthony Rizzo. The Cubs kick off the series with Jason Hammel on the hill who will oppose the Dodgers for the second time in 2015. Hammel defeated the Braves 9-3 last time out with two runs scored on six hits in 6.1 innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have managed to stay a step ahead of San Francisco in the National League West despite poor play on the road. The Dodgers did complete a road sweep of Cincinnati with a 1-0 victory behind the right arm of Zack Greinke. Greinke upped his record to 14-3 with seven scoreless innings while striking out nine. The bats had some opportunities on seven hits and four bases on balls with Justin Turner scoring on Yasmani Grandal’s double play grounder. Los Angeles opens the series with left hander Clayton Kershaw who has nothing to show for a pair of gems the past two starts. Kershaw gave up a run in each on 12 hits and 17 strikeouts over 15 frames but the team lost both games.
Chicago are 21-5 in their last 26 overall and are 21-5 in their last 26 games on grass while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 Friday games. Los Angeles are 53-23 in their last 76 home games and the over is 7-1-1 in Kershaw’s last 9 Friday starts while the under is 9-2 in Kershaw’s last 11 on grass. The Cubs are 6-15 in the last 21 meetings. I’m picking the Dodgers but I can’t bet them because they might not score…
