The Chicago White Sox continue their battle with the visiting Seattle Mariners in Saturday action.
The Seattle Mariners are in need of a prolonged hot streak if they expect to reach .500. The Mariners took a step in the right direction with a 2-0 win versus the White Sox on Friday. Taijuan Walker was dominant on the mound with a three hit shutout over 6.1 frames to get the win. The M’s managed ten hits with Kyle Seager and Franklin Gutierrez smacking solo homers in the 6th. Hisashi Iwakuma looks to rebound from a rare poor performance when he faces the White Sox. Iwakuma was hit hard in an 11-5 defeat to Oakland with seven runs given up on seven hits in 4.2 frames.

The Chicago White Sox are in need of consistency and that hasn’t been happening. The pitching was great but the bats struggled in the series opener versus the visiting Mariners on Friday night. Starter John Danks was a tough luck loser with a pair of solo jacks given up through six innings. The offense was held to four hits with Melky Cabrera and Alexei Ramirez both totaling two hits. Jeff Samardzija looks to get back in the win column against the visiting Mariners Saturday. Samardzija gave up five runs in a 5-4 loss to the Red Sox on eight hits over eight innings.
The over is 6-1-1 in Seattle’s last 8 overall and is 6-1-1 in their last 8 on grass while the Mariners are 2-6 in their last 8 road games. The over is 11-3 in Chicago’s last 14 games as a favorite and the White Sox are 7-2 in their last 9 games as a favorite with the over going 22-8 in their last 30 overall. Seattle are 12-39 in the last 51 meetings in Chicago and are 17-40 in the last 57 meetings. I’m just looking at something small on Iwakuma and not much more…
