The Philadelphia Phillies shoot for another victory versus the visiting San Diego Padres.
The San Diego Padres are simply trying to reach the .500 mark but that goal has been sidetracked lately. The Padres moved further away from their goal in a 7-1 defeat at Philadelphia for their 5th loss in six contests. Ian Kennedy took the defeat despite allowing just two runs over 6.2 frames with Marc Rzepcynski and Odrisamer Despagne giving up five runs. SD managed two hits and two walks with Justin Upton clubbing his 23rd long ball. Rookie Collin Rea makes his 4th start of the season when he opposes the Phillies on Saturday. Rea dropped a 10-3 decision to the Cardinals with five runs plated on five hits in 3.2 frames.

The Philadelphia Phillies are looking for a strong series versus the Padres after getting swept in four games by the Mets. The Phillies bounced back Friday night behind great pitching and some late offense. Aaron Nola was outstanding with a homer allowed through seven innings to up his record to 5-1. The bats didn’t waste the effort with seven hits and five free passes that saw Cameron Rupp connect on a grand slam while Aaron Altherr scored twice. Adam Morgan looks to bounce back from his poorest outing of his rookie campaign. Morgan dropped a 16-7 decision to the Mets with five runs scored on four homers over just 3.2 innings.
The over is 12-3 in San Diego’s last 15 road games and is 21-6 in their last 27 overall while going 21-6 in SD last 27 on grass. The over is 27-6-4 in the Phillies last 37 home games. San Diego are 15-37 in the last 52 meetings. I think the Phillies have a decent shot at another win as a home dog...
