The Atlanta Braves battle the visiting Miami Marlins at Turner Field on Tuesday night.
The Miami Marlins are just trying to stay out of the National League East basement. The Marlins had dropped eight of ten before downing Atlanta 4-0 on the road Monday. Starter Chris Narveson tossed a two hit shutout over 5.1 frames to pick up the win. Four relievers held the Braves offense in check while the bats did their damage on ten hits and a walk. Cole Gillespie smacked a solo homer while Martin Prado drove in a run and scored. Justin Nicolino opposes the Braves for the first time in his rookie campaign. Nicolino comes off of a 2-1 defeat to visiting Pittsburgh with both runs allowed on six hits and four BB in six frames.
The Atlanta Braves have been falling off the map with neither the arms or bats able to get on the same page. The trend continued in Monday’s defeat to visiting Miami to saddle the team with losses in ten of eleven. Shelby Miller allowed a run on six hits through seven frames with the pen allowing three late runs. The Bravos mustered three hits and walked five times with Nick Swisher drawing a pair of free passes. The Braves are scheduled to send Shelby Miller to the bump to oppose the visiting Marlins on Tuesday night. Miller has gone 5-11 with a 2.62 ERA covering 26 starts in 2015.
The over is 5-1-2 in Miami’s last 8 road games and the Marlins are 2-8 in their last 10 overall while going 2-8 in their last 10 games on grass. Atlanta are 6-25 in their last 31 Tuesday games and the over is 6-2 in their last 8 overall while going 6-2 in their last 8 on grass. The over is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings and Miami are 27-57 in the last 84 meetings. Not much to choose from here and I’m dead serious…
