The New York Yankees continue their series with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.
The New York Yankees had slowed and it cost them first place in the American League East and now the task is to chase down Toronto. The Yankees dropped a 4-3 decision at Fenway Park on Monday which cost them a game in the standings with the Blue Jays losing. Ivan Nova took the loss with three runs allowed on seven hits over six frames. The Bronx Bombers totaled ten hits and walked eight times with Didi Gregorius going 4-5 with an RBI. Michael Pineda makes his second start since coming off the disabled list. Pineda struggled in his first outing in a 6-2 loss to Houston where he gave up five runs on six hits in 4.1 frames.

The Boston Red Sox are playing their best baseball right now although it’s too late to make a difference in the standings. With a series opening win against the Yankees Boston has now won seven of eleven. Rookie Eduardo Rodriguez upped his record to 8-5 with two runs given up (one earned) on seven hits and three free passes. The offense came up with nine hits and walked three times with Mookie Betts going deep and driving in two while David Ortiz smacked a solo bomb. Rick Porcello makes his second start off the DL hoping he is as successful as his first outing. Porcello defeated the White Sox on the road 3-0 with seven scoreless innings pitched.
The over is 9-2 in Pineda’s last 11 road starts. The over is 16-4-1 in Boston’s last 21 home games and is 15-5-2 in their last 22 games as an underdog while going 36-16-4 in their last 56 on grass. The Yankees are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings. Both guys are not far removed from the disabled list so I’m not 100% confident here but…
