The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners face off on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park for game two of their MLB series of American League West teams.
The Houston Astros used the long ball on Monday to batter the Mariners and get the win. Carlos Correa, Jed Lowrie, and Hank Conger each hit home runs as the Astros scored eight runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed six hits and a run while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 16-6 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Astros start Scott Feldman who has allowed 112 hits and 44 earned runs while striking out 59 over 1-5.2 innings for a 5-5 record and a 3.75 ERA.

The Seattle Mariners just didn’t convert on their chances as they lost to the Astros in Houston on Monday. Mark Trumbo hit two home runs, Brad Miller had two hits, and Nelson Cruz had a hit as the Mariners scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Vidal Nuno allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-1 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Mariners start Roenis Elias who has allowed 81 hits and 40 earned runs while striking out 67 over 85.2 innings for a 4-7 record and a 4.20 ERA.
Houston is 6-1 in their last seven home games against a team with a losing record, 44-16 in their last 60 home games, and 2-6 in their last eight games against the AL West. Seattle is 5-2 on the road against a right-handed starter, 0-7 in their last seven games as an underdog, and 1-4 Elias last five starts. Seattle is 4-12 in their last 16 games against Houston.
I don’t love the price with Feldman starting but the other option of taking the Mariners is a worse choice so I will take the Astros.
