Kauffman Stadium and the Kansas City Royals host AL Central rival the Detroit Tigers.
The Detroit Tigers are not going to challenge in the American League Central and are in more of a rebuilding stage for a lack of a better word. The Tigers have dropped nine of ten following a 9-2 loss at red hot Toronto on Sunday. Nothing went well with starter Alfredo Simon allowing six runs on six hits including four homeruns in falling to 11-9. The bats managed seven hits and walked three times with Miguel Cabrera and James McCann knocking in runs. Justin Verlander looks to continue his recent resurgence when he takes the ball to open the series at Kansas City. Verlander comes off a 5-0 victory versus the Angels where he tossed a complete game one hitter.

The Kansas City Royals look like a team on a mission with wins in seven of ten although they are looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss at Tampa Bay. The offense never showed up and starter Danny Duffy was victimized. Duffy allowed two runs on seven hits through five frames with Luke Hochevar giving up the game winner. KC totaled seven hits and walked twice with Ben Zobrist and Lorenzo Cain singling in runs. The Royals send Johnny Cueto to the hill for his6th start for Kansas City. Cueto has struggled the last two times out with 13 runs given up on 21 hits covering ten innings of work.
Detroit are 1-7 in their last 8 games following a loss and are 1-7 in their last 8 Tuesday games while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 Tuesday games. Kansas City are 38-14 in their last 52 games as a favorite and are 52-23 in their last 75 home games while going 37-18 in their last 55 games on grass. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and the over is 5-2-1 in Verlander’s last 8 starts vs. Kansas City. Verlander has had a few problems in this match up and I hope it continues…
