The Seattle Mariners head to O.co Coliseum to begin a weekend series with the Oakland Athletics.
The Seattle Mariners are still holding out hope they can achieve a winning record but at eight games below .500 that is asking for a lot. The Mariners have won consecutive games after some late scoring led them to an 8-3 win at Houston. Starter Taijuan Walker gave up all three runs on five hits and a trio of free passes over 6.2 innings but did not get a decision. The M’s racked up 13 hits and walked six times with Logan Morrison cracking a three run homer and scoring two times while Kyle Seager scored twice. Rookie Edgar Olmos makes his second career start when he opposes the Athletics on Friday. Olmos did not receive a decision in a 6-5 loss at the White Sox where he gave up three runs on five hits and five BB in five frames.

The Oakland Athletics have gone from one of the more feared teams in the American League to one that is rebuilding. The Athletics have dropped back to back contests after a 9-4 defeat at the hands of the visiting Angels on Wednesday. Ace Sonny Gray was hit hard with six runs plated on eight hits to fall to 12-7. The A’s had ten hits but did not walk with Josh Phegley leading the way with a two run bomb while Brett Lawrie went solo and scored twice. Aaron Brooks draws Friday’s starting assignment versus the visiting Mariners. Brooks was solid in a 3-2 win at Arizona last time out with a pair of runs plated on eight hits over six innings.
The over is 34-16-2 in Seattle’s last 52 overall and is 34-16-2 in their last 52 on grass. The over is 9-1-1 in Oakland’s last 11 overall and is 9-1-1 in their last 11 on grass while the Athletics are 6-20 in their last 26 Friday games. The Mariners are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings. I guess the visitors who have had success here is the way to go but there is no edge…
