The Houston Astros and the Minnesota Twins face off on Sunday as they close out their MLB series at Minute Maid Park.
The Houston Astros looked to be on their way to a win on Saturday but they let it get away from them late as they lost to the Twins. Jed Lowrie hit a home run, Carlos Correa had three hits, and Marwin Gonzalez had two hits as the Astros scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Lance McCullers allowed three hits and a run while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Luke Gregorson took the loss. For Sunday’s game the Astros start Dallas Keuchel who has allowed 150 hits and 48 earned runs while striking out 173 over 192.2 innings for a 16-6 record and a 2.24 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins remain in strong post-season contention as they beat the Astros on Saturday. Eddie Rosario had two hits and Brian Dozier and Aaron Hicks each had hits as the Twins scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Ervin Santana allowed six hits and a run while striking out 11 over 8.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 4-4 and Kevin Jepsen earned the save. For Sunday’s game the Twins start Tyler Duffey who has allowed 26 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 22 over 25.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 4.56 ERA.
Houston is 39-15 in their last 54 home games, 26-11 against a team with a winning record, and 14-2 in Keuchel’s last 16 starts as a home favorite. Minnesota is 7-2 in their last nine home games, 11-4 in their last 15 games, and 4-0 in Duffey’s last four starts.
The Twins are playing well by Keuchel is one of the stronger pitchers in baseball this season and will get Cy Young Award votes and I look for him to lead the Astros to a win here.
