The Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants face off on Tuesday at Chase Field for game two of their MLB series of National League West teams.
The Arizona Diamondbacks jumped out to an early lead on Monday and made it hold up as they beat the Giants. A.J. Pollock and Phillip Gosselin each hit home runs and David Peralta was among those with two hits as the Giants scored six runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Patrick Corbin allowed six hits and struck out five over 6.0 scoreless innings to get the win and raise his record to 5-3 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Chase Anderson who has allowed 148 hits and 66 earned runs while striking out 94 over 139.1 innings for a 6-5 record and a 4.26 ERA.

The San Francisco Giants are watching the post-season hopes fade away as they took a loss to the Diamondbacks on Monday. Buster Posey had three hits and Angel Pagan and Marlon Byrd each had two hits as the Giants could only score one run on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Mike Leake didn’t have his best stuff as he allowed 11 hits and six runs while striking out five over 5.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 9-8 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Giants start Ryan Vogelsong who has allowed 134 hits and 65 earned runs while striking out 101 over 129.2 innings for a 9-11 record and a 4.51 ERA.
Arizona is 5-11 in game two of a series, 3-7 in their last 10 home games, and 5-2 in Anderson’s last seven home starts. San Francisco is 2-7 against the NL West, 6-21 in their last 27 games as an underdog, and 2-9 in their last 11 games. San Francisco is 23-9 in their last 32 games in Arizona.
The Giants have just been awful of late and it is just tough to take them so my play is the D-Backs.
