The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets face off on Friday at Turner Field in game two of their MLB series of National League East teams.
The Atlanta Braves are having their worst season in years and it got worse on Thursday as they lost to the Mets. Andrelton Simmons had three hits and Nick Swisher and Freddie Freeman each had hits as the braves scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Shelby Miller allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-14 for the season. For Friday’s game the Braves start Matt Wisler who has allowed 89 hits and 48 earned runs while striking out 48 over 74.1 innings for a 5-6 record and a 5.81 ERA.

The New York Mets continued to close in on nail down the NL East as they beat the Braves on Thursday. Juan Uribe had three hits and Wilmer Flores and Kelly Johnson each had two hits as the Mets scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out two over 6.2 innings to get the win and raise his record to 14-11 for the season. For Friday’s game the Mets start Steven Matz who has allowed 11 hits and four runs while striking out 20 over 19 innings for a 2-0 record and a 1.89 ERA.
Atlanta is 14-43 in their last 57 games, 2-10 against the NL East, and 4-1 in Wisler’s last five home starts. New York is 5-1 in their last six games, 9-2 in their last 11 road games against a team with a losing record, and 39-17 in their last 56 games against the National League East. New York is 2-5 in their last seven games in Atlanta.
The line for this one isn’t out as of yet but I would think the Mets will be a big favorite and I like them regardless.
