The Cincinnati Reds and St Louis Cardinals continue their series at Great American Ball Park on Friday.
The St Louis Cardinals are trying to wrap up the National League Central but they took a step back Thursday in an 11-0 loss at Great American Ball Park. Jaime Garcia had been as steady as anyone in the rotation but he was charged with six runs over 4.1 frames before the pen was tagged for five. The Redbirds had a few chances offensively on five hits and six bases on balls but couldn’t break in to the scoring column. Veteran John Lackey gets the call to the mound against the division rival Reds. Lackey threw the ball well in a 7-1 loss to Pittsburgh with three runs scored on ten hits over 7.1 frames.

The Cincinnati Reds haven’t had a whole lot to cheer about this season but they were cheering Thursday after blasting the hated Cardinals. Starter John Lamb gave up three hits and walked six but did not allow a run through five innings with four relievers holding the Cards at bay. The offense pounded out 13 hits and walked five times with Brandon Phillips cracking a three run bomb while Todd Frazier wen 3-3 with a homer, three RBI’s and three runs. Rookie Michael Lorenzen shoots for back to back victories when he opposes the Cardinals. Lorenzen defeated Milwaukee 6-3 the last time out with two runs scored on eight hits in 5.1 innings.
St Louis are 7-1 in their last 8 road games and the over is 7-2-2 in their last 11 road contests while going 15-6-5 in their last 26 overall. The Reds are 6-20 in their last 26 Friday games and are 9-25 in their last 34 overall while going 9-25 in the last 34 games on grass. The under is 8-0 in the last 8 meetings and are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings. I would go small at most on the Cards…
