The Houston Astros look to stretch their lead in the West with a win at the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
The Houston Astros have not been playing well over the past two weeks and they need to turn things around. The Astros did defeat Oakland 11-5 on Wednesday but have won just four of six. Collin McHugh improved to 16-7 despite allowing all five runs over 5.1 innings with four relievers throwing scoreless ball. The Stros racked up 13 hits and three free passes that featured homers from Marwin Gonzalez, Carlos Gomez, Colby Rasmus and Evan Gattis. The Astros hand the ball to Dallas Keuchel who faces the Angels for the third time this year. Keuchel has been hot over his last three with a 3-0 record with four runs plated over 22 frames.

The Los Angeles Angels are still well within reach of the division leading Astros but time won’t be their friend much longer. The Angels will be looking to build on their 3-2 victory versus the Dodgers on Wednesday where their work on the mound saved the day. Garrett Richards gave up both runs and struck out eleven through 7.2 frames for a no decision. The offense totaled seven hits and walked four times with Kole Calhoun driving in a run and scoring with Albert Puljols and David Freese knocking in runs. Jered Weaver toes the rubber against the visiting Astros in game one of their series on Friday. Weaver threw the ball well in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers with a run allowed on four hits in six innings.
The over is 7-2-1 in Houston’s last 10 overall and is 7-2-1 in their last 10 on grass while the Astros are 16-37 in their last 53 road games. Los Angeles are 3-7 in their last 10 home games and the under is 23-8-2 in Weaver’s last 33 Friday starts while going 47-17 in Weaver’s last 64 home starts. The under is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings. I don’t see a big edge with neither team playing well so perhaps the first place squad…
