The Chicago Cubs look to finish their road series versus the Philadelphia Phillies with a win.
The Chicago Cubs are really playing well but have the misfortune of having the Cardinals and Pirates in the same division. The Cubs had won eight of ten before dropping a 7-5 decision at Philadelphia on Saturday night. This was pitching by committee with Justin Grimm charged with five runs before Hector Rondon served up a two run walk off homer in the 9th. Kyle Schwarber cracked a long ball and scored twice while Chris Coghlan drove in a pair and scored. Veteran Dan Haren gets the series ending start against the Phillies on Sunday afternoon. On the season Haren is 9-9 with a competitive 3.73 ERA covering 28 outings.

The Philadelphia Phillies need a prolong hot streak and some help in order to avoid the National League East basement. The Phillies have had a few hot streaks this season but at this point in the season the bad has outweighed the good. The Phils picked up a big win against the postseason bound Cubs behind a big offensive effort. Starter Jerad Eikhoff gave up a run through seven frames with Luis Garcia allowing three more. The Phils posted six hits and walked four times with Ryan Howard driving in a run and scoring while Cody Asche clubbed a two run pinch hit homer in the 9th to win it. Aaron Harang toes the rubber against the visiting Cubs on Sunday. Harang has struggled to get wins with a 5-15 record with an ERA just north of five over 25 starts.
The under is 14-4-3 in Chicago’s last 21 Sunday games while the Cubs are 35-17 in their last 52 games and are 35-17 in their last 52 games on grass. Philadelphia are 1-8 in their last 9 overall and are 1-8 in the last 9games on grass while the over is 31-14-6 in the Phillies last 51 home games. I would probably take a small poke at the over here…
