The Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers face off on Tuesday at Target Field for game two of their MLB series of American League Central teams.
The Minnesota Twins continued their strong play as they pounded the Tigers on Monday. Eduardo Escobar hit a home run, Joe Mauer had three hits, and Torii Hunter and Aaron Hicks each had two hits as the Twins scored seven runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Tyler Duffey allowed seven hits and a run while striking out seven over 6.1 innings to get the win and raise his record to 3-1 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Twins start Phil Hughes who has allowed 172 hits and 72 earned runs while striking out 85 over 144.1 innings for a 10-8 record and a 4.49 ERA.

The Detroit Tigers fell behind early on Monday and never were close as they were crushed by the Twins. Anthony Gose and J.D. Martinez each had two hits and Victor Martinez had a hit as the Tigers scored one run one eight hits. Starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein allowed seven hits and six runs while striking out two and lasting just 1.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-8 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Tigers start Alfredo Simon who has allowed 167 hits and 88 earned runs while striking out 105 over 160.1 innings for a 12-9 record and a 4.94 ERA.
