The Washington Nationals look for a win against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.
The Washington Nationals still have hopes of winning the National League East but they need some momentum. The Nationals have won back to back contests with an 8-7, eleven inning victory on Monday night. Starter Jordan Zimmermann was charged with six runs before Jonathan Papelbon allowed a run to blow the save but ended up getting the run. The Nats racked up 15 hits with Jayson Werth hitting a grand slam and solo jack while Bryce Harper drove in a run and scored twice. Big right hander Stephen Strasburg gets the start in game two of their series at Philadelphia. Strasburg has gone 8-7 on the season with a 4.30 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 19 starts.

The Philadelphia Phillies won’t be going anywhere in 2015 but they do have a ton of young players to look at. The Phillies hit the ball well but starter Aaron Nola was charged with six runs scored on nine hits including three long balls. The pen eventually lost it but the offense held their own with a nine hit, two walk attack that featured a three run homer from Cody Asche with Freddy Galvis smacking a two run bomb while Ryan Howard went solo. A struggling David Buchanan looks to right the ship from his recent problems when he opposes the visiting Nationals. Over the last three times out Buchanan is 0-3 with 31 hits allowed in nine innings.
Washington are 5-14 in their last 19 road games and the over is 9-4-1 in their last 14 overall while going 9-4-1 in their last 14 on grass. The over is 18-6-4 in Philadelphia’s last 28 Tuesday games while the Phillies are 3-8 in their last 11 overall and 3-8 in their last 11 games on grass. Washington are 6-2 in Strasburg’s last 8 starts versus Philadelphia and are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings. Given Buchanan’s struggles I’ll back Washington but they aren’t good…
