The Kansas City Royals look to close in on the Central crown with a win at the Cleveland Indians Wednesday.
The Kansas City Royals have been slumping but are still in control of the American League Central. The Royals had lost eight of ten before squeezing out a 2-0 victory at Progressive Field on Tuesday night. Starter Kris Medlen improved to 4-1 with a five hit shutout over 6.1 frames with three relievers finishing the job. The KC offense logged just four hits with Alex Rios going solo while Salvador Perez driving in Mike Moustakas. Kansas City goes with Danny Duffy on the bump Wednesday for his second meeting with the Indians. Duffy threw the ball well in a 14-8 loss at Baltimore with a pair of runs plated on three hits in five frames.

The Cleveland Indians have been playing their best baseball of the season with the goal of reaching .500 still alive. The red hot Indians cooled down for a night Tuesday but have still won seven of eleven overall. Starter Josh Tomlin remained hot however with a complete game performance that still dropped his record to 5-2. The Tribe managed six hits and walked three times with Francisco Lindor, Yan Gomes and Chris Johnson logging two hits apiece. The Indians are scheduled to start Danny Salazar against the dangerous offense of Kansas City on Wednesday. Salazar has been consistent with a 12-8 record with a 3.57 ERA over 26 starts.
Kansas City are 2-8 in their last 10 overall and are 2-8 in their last 10 games on grass while the over is 9-4 in their last 13 Wednesday games. Cleveland are 13-3 in their last 16 home games and are 12-3 in their last 15 games on grass while the over is 17-5 in their last 22 home games. The over is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings in Cleveland and is 11-3-1 in their last 15 meetings. A cold first place squad against a hot Cleveland squad…
