The Baltimore Orioles open a series at Tropicana Field on Thursday versus the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Baltimore Orioles have regained some of their mojo but it appears that it is too little, too late to make a run at the postseason. There was no mojo in Wednesday’s 10-1 defeat to visiting Boston where nothing went as planned. Starter Mike Wright was charged with six runs on six hits over three frames with Jorge Rondon giving up three runs in two innings. The Birds managed eight hits with a walk with Steve Pearce driving in Junior Lake with the only run. The Orioles are scheduled to start right hander Chris Tillman against Tampa Bay on Thursday. Tillman has been a big part of the Orioles struggles with a 9-11 record and 5.21 ERA.

Starter Chris Archer fell to 12-12 with a pair of runs scored on four hits through six innings of work. The offense posted seven hits and walked four times with Steven Souza goin2-3 with a run scoring double that knocked in James Loney who had three hits. Left hander Matt Moore draws Thursday’s start against the visiting Orioles. Moore has had struggles since coming off the disabled list with a 1-4 record and an ERA north of eight.
Baltimore are 4-11 in their last 15 road games and the over is 7-1-1 in Tillman’s last 9 Thursday starts. The over is 11-5 in Tampa Bay’s last 16 on astroturf and is 11-5 in TB last 16 home games while the Rays are 2-9 in Moore’s last 11 starts. Neither hurler has been at the top of their game so maybe the over…
