Nolan Arenado had three hits and Justin Morneau and Dustin Garneau each had two hits as the Rockies scored seven runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Chad Bettis allowed four hits and a run while striking out six over 5.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 8-5 for the season and John Axford earned his 24th save. For Saturday’s game the Rockies start Yohan Flande who allowed 68 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 42 over 63.2 innings for a 3-3 record and a 4.95 ERA.

The San Diego Padres continued to under perform this season as they lost to the Rockies. Wil Myers hit a home run, Melvin Upton Jr. had three hits, and Yangervis Solarte had a hit as the Padres scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy allowed six hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out five over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the padres start Robbie Erlin who makes his first start of the year after going 4-5 with a 4.99 ERA last season.
