Starting pitcher Zack Greinke allowed four hits and two runs while striking out three over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 18-3 for the season. The Pittsburgh Pirates loss on Friday leaves them with just a one game lead in the National League Wildcard race. Neil Walker hit a home run,  Chris Stewart had two hits, and Andrew McCutchen had a hit as the Pirates scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Jeff Locke allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out four over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-11 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Pirates start Francisco Liriano who has allowed 139 hits and 64 earned runs while striking out 182 over 167 innings for a 10-7 record and a 3.45 ERA.

Los Angeles is 8-2 against a left-handed starter, 19-5 in their last 24 games, and 52-22 in Kershaw’s last 74 home starts. Pittsburgh is 41-19 against the NL West, 0-5 against a team with a winning record, and 7-0 in Liriano’s last seven starts against a team with a winning record. Pittsburgh is 14-38 in their  last 52 games in Los Angeles.

This should be a good on and runs should be scarce but it is tough to go against Kershaw at home in September.
