The Los Angeles Angels continue their series at Target Field versus the Minnesota Twins.
The Los Angeles Angels are still in the postseason hunt even though they have not been setting the world on fire. The Angels kept their playoff hopes alive with an 11-8 win at Target Field on Thursday. Starter Hector Santiago was charged with five runs inn 2/3 of an inning before the pen slowed the Twins offense down. The Halos pounded out 15 hits and walked six times with Mike Trout going deep twice and driving in five while Chris Iannetta and Taylor Featherston went deep and drove in two runs each. Left hander Andrew Heaney looks to keep the Angels in the postseason conversation when he opposes Minnesota for the first time. Heaney has gone 6-3 in 15 starts with a 3.32 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins have gone back and forth from looking like a postseason team to one that is going to miss out. The Twins couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard Thursday and have lost three in a row. Starter Tommy Milone gave up five runs in 1.1 innings with next four relievers allowing a combined six runs. The offense logged 12 hits and walked twice with Tori Hunter leaving the yard and driving in three with two runs while Aaron Hicks went solo. Veteran Mike Pelfrey is hoping to pitch Minnesota closer to a Wild Card berth when he faces the Angels Friday. Pelfrey has been tough to predict as he can struggle one week and throw a shutout the next.
The over is 5-1-2 in Los Angeles last 8 road games while the Angels are 7-20 in their last 27 road games. Minnesota are 7-3 in their last 10 Friday games while the under is 6-2-1 in Pelfrey’s last 9 home starts. The Angels are 9-1 in the last 10 meetings and the over is 34-15-5 in the last 54 meetings. I’m a Heaney fan and no reason to go any other way…
