The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins face off on Sunday as they close out their series of National League East teams.
The Washington Nationals are closing out a very disappointing season but they got they win on Saturday. Bryce Harper and Tyler Moore hit home runs and Michael Taylor had a hit as the Nationals scored five runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman allowed si hits and two runs while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 13-8 for the season and Jonathan Papelbon earned his 24th save. For Sunday’s game the Nationals start Stephen Strasburg who has allowed 100 hits and 47 runs while striking out 125 over 106.1 innings for a 9-7 record and a 3.98 ERA.

The Miami Marlins just couldn’t take advantage of their hits on Saturday as they fell to the Nationals. Justin Bour had three hits and Christian Yelich, J.T. Relmuto, and Miguel Rojas each had two hits the Marlins scored two runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Brad Hand allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-7 for the season. For Sunday’s gam the Marlins start Justin Nicolino who has allowed 57 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 18 over 54.1 innings for a 3-3 record and a 3.81 ERA.
Washington is 6-1in their last seven games, 2-4 in their last six home games, and 5-1 in Stasburg’s last six home starts. Miami is 6-3 in their last nine games, 12-6 in their last 18 games, and 1-4 in Nicolino’s last five starts. Miami is 7-21 in their last 28 games in Washington.
Strasburg has been solid but not loving this price so I am not playing this one but if I was my money would be on the Marlins.
