The St Louis Cardinals open a series with the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium Monday.

The Cincinnati Reds and their new look rotation aren’t racking up the wins but they are getting experience to carry in to 2016. The Reds saw a two game winning streak come to an end in Sunday’s 8-4 defeat at Miller Park.  Starter Anthony DeSclafani was charged with four runs on eight hits over 4.1 frames to fall to 9-11. Jay Bruce paced the offense with a 2-3 day with two homers, two RBI’s and three runs while Eugenio Suarez went solo. Rookie John Lamb takes the hill for his 8th start and second against the Cardinals. Lamb did not get a decision in a 9-8 win at San Francisco where he gave up three runs in four frames.

USA TODAY Sports

The St Louis Cardinals have locked up a spot in the postseason but have yet to wrap up the division. The Cardinals took a step towards locking up the Central with a tight 4-3 victory versus the rival Cubs.  Starter Carlos Martinez improved to 14-7 with a pair of runs given up on four hits and three BB through 6.2 innings. The Redbirds did their damage on six hits and three free passes with Stephen Piscotty clubbing a two run bomb while Thomas Pham went solo. Left hander Jaime Garcia opposes Cincinnati for the third time on the season. Garcia has struggled the past two times out with ten runs given up on 14 hits and five BB over 10.2 innings.

The over is 18-6-5 in St Louis last 29 overall and  is 18-6-5 in their last 29 on grass while the Cardinals  are 75-31 in their last 106 home games. The under is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings while the Cardinals are 7-2 in Garcia’s last 9 home starts. I like the Cards here who have no time to let up now…
