The Texas Rangers look to continue their postseason drive at the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.
The Texas Rangers are looking to continue their hot play with a stop at Oakland Tuesday. The Rangers have won seven of ten but have lost two of three after a 9-2 loss to Seattle. The Rangers had nothing going in this one and it began on the mound with Derek Holland allowing seven runs on seven hits and five BB over 4.1 frames to fall to 3-3. The offense consisted of four hits and walked five times with Mitch Moreland going solo while Elvis Andrus drove in Rougned Odor. Martin Perez gets the ball in the series opener at Oakland Tuesday looking for back to back wins. Perez was at his best in a 14-3 win versus Houston with a run plated on nine hits in seven frames.

The Oakland Athletics season has turned in to beating as many playoff bound teams as possible which hasn’t happened with consecutive losses at Houston after a 5-1 defeat Sunday. The Athletics had problems at the plate and on the mound in this one despite great starting pitching. Starter Aaron Brooks fell to 2-4 with three runs scored on seven hits through seven frames before Barry Zito allowed a two run homer. The A’s managed four hits and walked twice with Marcus Semien driving in Danny Valencia with the lone run. Left hander Sean Nolin makes his third start of the season and second against the Rangers. Nolin comes off a 4-2 win at the White Sox where he allowed both runs over five innings.
Texas are 7-1 in their last 8 games following a loss and the over is 6-1-1 in their last 8 overall and is 6-1-1 in their last 8 on grass. The over is 8-2-1 in Oakland’s last 11 home games while Oakland are 2-6 in their last 8 home games with the over is 18-8-1 in their last 27 overall. Texas are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings and the over is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings in Oakland. The Rangers will bet heavily but if Nolin throws as he has the A’s could steal one although I’m not al that hopeful…
