The Oakland A’s and the Texas Rangers face off on Wednesday in Oakland for game two of their MLB series.
The Oakland A’s continued to close out their rebuilding season as they lost to the Rangers on Tuesday. Mark Canha and Marcus Semien each had two hits and Billy Butler had a hit as the A’s scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Sean Nolin allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Drew Pomeranz took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the A’s start Felix Doubront who has allowed 42 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 13 over 22.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 5.05 ERA.

The Texas Rangers continue to march towards the American League West title as they beat the A’s on Tuesday. Mitch Moreland hit a home run and Adrian Beltre, Mike Napoli, and Elvis Andrus each had two hits as the Rangers scored eight runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Martin Perez allowed six hits and four earned runs while striking out three over 4.0 innings to not get a decision as Chi Chi Gonzalez got the win and Shawn Tolleson earned his 33rd save. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Colby Lewis who has allowed 190 hits and 93 earned runs while striking out 131 over 190 innings for a 16-8 record and a 4.41 ERA.
Oakland is 6-13 in their last 19 games, 2-7 in their last nine home games, and 5-1 in Doubront’s last six starts. Texas is 6-1 in game two of a series, 7-2 in their last nine games, and 5-2 in Lewis’ last seven starts against the AL West.
