The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Thursday at Dodger Stadium as they close out their MLB series of NL West rivals.
The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t get a ton of offense on Thursday but they made every hit count as they beat the Diamondbacks. Chase Utley and Corey Seager hit home runs and Jimmy Rollins had a hit as the Dodgers scored four runs on four hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Frias allowed a hit and a run while striking out two over 4.0 innings to not get a decision as Chris Hatcher got the win and Kenley Jansen earned his 33rd save. For Thursday’s game the Dodgers start Clayton Kershaw who has allowed 154 hits and 52 earned runs while striking out 272 over 215 innings for a 14-7 record and a 2.18 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks were knotted with the Dodgers the bulk of the game on Wednesday but in the end they the loss allowing runs late. Paul Goldschmidt hit a home run, Ender Inciarte had two hits, and Jake Lamb had a hit as the Diamondbacks scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed one hit and one run while striking out 10 over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as David Hernandez took the loss. For Thursday’s game the Diamondbacks start Patrick Corbin who has allowed 76 hits and 25 earned runs while striking out 70 over 75.1 innings for a 6-4 record and a 2.99 ERA.
Los Angeles is 5-1 in game four of a series, 1-4 in their last five games, and 37-16 in Kershaw’s last 53 starts. Arizona is 6-1 in their last seven games against a left-handed starter, 2-6 in game four of a series, and 6-2 in Corbin’s last eight starts. Arizona is 10-28 in their last 38 games against the Dodgers.
Kershaw is in his time of the year where he is mowing teams down and I see this one playing to form with an easy Dodger win.
