The New York Mets shoot for another win at Great American Ball Park against the Cincinnati Reds.
The New York Mets need some momentum to get back on track and put the National League East away. The Mets had lost six of eight before picking up a much needed 6-4 victory versus the Reds on Thursday. Rookie Steven Matz gave up three runs on ten hits over 5.2 frames with four relievers holding serve. New York totaled 12 hits with Yoenis Cespedes and Lucas Duda driving in a pair of runs while Daniel Murphy drove in a run and scored twice. Rookie Noah Syndergaard will be looking for consistency in his last few starts of the regular season beginning Friday. Syndergaard comes off of a 5-0 loss to the Yankees with all five runs scored on seven hits over six frames.

The Cincinnati Reds have a few more weeks to get a look at some of their young faces before heading in to the off season. Things have not gone well for the Reds the last few weeks and didn’t improve Thursday as the team has now dropped eight of eleven. Starter Joshua Smith was charged with three runs on seven hits through five frames before Manny Parra allowed three more to get the loss. Cinci logged eleven hits with Jay Bruce clubbing a solo jack while Brandon Phillips knocked in two. Rookie Anthony DeSclafani saw a two game winning streak end in an 8-4 defeat at Milwaukee in his last outing. DeSclafani gave up five runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings of work.
The over is 22-5-1 in New York’s last 28 road games while the Mets are 21-6 in their last 27 road games and the over is 25-11 in their last 36 overall. The under is 6-2-2 in Cincinnati’s last 10 Friday games while the Reds are 6-16 in their last 22 home games and 8-20 in their last 28 Friday games. I don’t know if the Mets are going to win a few now but I’ll take a shot with them…
