The Atlanta Braves head to the Sunshine State to butt heads with the Miami Marlins Friday.
The Atlanta Braves hope for a strong finish to the season to take over third in the National League East. The Braves have won five of six after downing the Mets 6-3 on Wednesday night. Starter Williams Perez was the key with a pair of runs allowed on seven hits over six innings while four relievers held New York at bay. The offense didn’t waste the effort with Freddie Freeman pacing a nine hit attack with a homer and five RBI’s while Cameron Maybin scored twice. Rookie Ryan Weber gets the ball for his 4th start of the season and first versus the Marlins. Weber was outstanding in a 2-1 win against Philadelphia with a run scored on two hits and a pair of BB in seven frames.

The Fish managed just four hits with JT Realmuto tripling in Derek Dietrich with game’s only run. The Marlins are slated to send Jose Fernandez to the hill in the series opener against the Braves. Fernandez was his normal stingy self in a 5-4 loss to the Phillies with two runs scored on five hits in 5.2 innings.
Atlanta are 13-38 in their last 51 road games and the over is 8-3-1 in their last 12 road games and are 17-42 in their last 59 overall. Miami are 3-8 in their last 11 Friday games and are 20-1 in Fernandez’s last 21 home starts while the over is 9-3 in Fernandez’s last 12 starts on grass. The over is 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings and Atlanta are 36-15 in the last 51 meetings in Miami. If the Marlins can score I have to give the nod to Fernandez but that’s a big if…
