The San Diego Padres and he Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Saturday in game two of their MLB series of National League West teams.
The San Diego Padres continued their disappointing ways this season as they fell to the D-Backs on Friday. Derek Norris had two hits and Matt Kemp and Wil Myers each had his as the Padres scored three runs on six his. Starting pitcher Casey Kelly allowed six hits and six runs whole striking out one over 5.0 innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Padres start Robbie Erlin who has allowed nine hits and seven runs while striking out two over 3.0 innings to take the loss at Colorado.

The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to try and close out the season strong as they beat the Padres on Friday. A.J. Pollock hit a home run, Phillip Gosselin had two hits, and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit as the Diamondbacks scored six runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa allowed four hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out two over 5.2 innings to get the win and raise his record to 14-8 for the season and Brad Ziegler earned his 28th save. For Saturday’s game the Diamondbacks start Jeremy Hellickson who has allowed 140 hits and 71 earned runs while striking out 113 over 135 innings for a 9-10 record and 4.73 ERA.
San Diego is 2-6 in game two of a series, 0-4 in their last four Saturday games, and 1-4 in Erlin’s last five starts against a team with a losing record. Arizona is 4-1 in their last five games against a left-handed starter, 22-8 in their last 30 road games against a team with a losing record, and 2-6 in Hellickson’s last eight road starts.
The Padres are terrible this season so I will go with the better team even though they are on the road.
