The San Diego Padres will be using the final week of the season to try and figure out why their offseason changes didn’t pan out. Things did not pan out in a 4-2 loss to the visiting Diamondbacks where the starting pitching wasn’t great and the offense was silent. James Shields was charged with all four runs on nine hits including three homeruns through 6.1 innings to drop his record to 13-7. The offense mustered five hits and walked five times with Travis Jankowski tripling in Shields and scoring on Cory Spangenberg’s single. The Padres hand the ball to Tyson Ross who has been a tough luck pitcher this season. Ross is only 10-11 despite a 3.17 ERA with just 166 hits given up in 190 innings.
The over is 26-8-3 in Milwaukee’s last 37 overall and is 26-8-3 in their last 37 on grass while going 18-6-3 in their last 27 road games. The over is 39-15-2 in San Diego’s last 56 overall and is 39-15-2 in their last 56 on grass while the under is 22-7-3 in Ross' last 32 home starts. We don’t know if San Diego scores ten or gets shut out by the kid….
