The Washington Nationals take the field at Turner Field to face the Atlanta Braves.
The Washington Nationals are not going to the postseason despite their second place standing in the National League East. The Nationals want to finish with a winning record but are just two games above .500 following Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat at Turner Field. Starter Jordan Zimmermann allowed both runs on six hits over six frames to fall to 13-10. The Nats managed six hits and three walks with Clint Robinson smacking a pair of singles. The Nationals turn to Stephen Strasburg for his last start of the season. Strasburg has been a his best with three consecutive wins with just two runs allowed on ten hits over 23 frames.

The Atlanta Braves looked okay early in the season but have eventually dropped to 4th in the National League East. The Braves have won two in a row behind outstanding work on the mound. Starter Williams Perez gave up six hits and walked three through six innings to improve to 7-6. The Bravos offense didn’t do a lot and didn’t need to with AJ Pierzynski and Michael Bourne knocking in runs. The Braves hand the ball to rookie Ryan Weber for his 5th start of the season. Weber is coming off of a 12-11 loss at Miami where he was charged with seven runs on nine hits over two innings.
Washington are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and are 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 road games. Atlanta are 8-23 in their last 31 Thursday games and are 18-45 in their last 63 overall while going 18-43 in their last 61 games on grass. Washington are 20-8 in the last 28 meetings. I favor the Nationals but they really don’t win games they should and just aren’t worth betting…
