The Line: Philadelphia Phillies +153 / New York Mets -163 --- Over/Under: 8.5 See the Latest Odds

The Philadelphia Phillies face the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park in Thursday action.

The New York Mets have wrapped up the National League East and will be preparing for the playoffs. The Mets have lost two in a row in a 7-5 loss at Philadelphia although I’m sure they have little concern unless this turns in to a season ending slide. The Mets used nine pitchers with Logan Verrett allowing three runs and Bobby Parnell giving up two. New York logged six hits and walked four with Michael Conforto and Daniel Murphy slamming homers and driving in all five runs.  The Mets have not named a starter yet and I don’t know if they are resting guys or will just go with pitcher by committee.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets - 10/1/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Philadelphia Phillies have looked good for about a week although the season has been dismal. The Phillies have now won four of five and have beaten the Mets two times in a row which just doesn’t happen. Rookie Alec Asher was charged with all five runs in only 2/3 of an inning but seven relievers threw shutout baseball. The Phils did their damage on eight hits and six free passes with Freddie Galvis driving in two and scoring twice while Darin Ruf knocked in two more. Rookie Jerad Eickhoff gets his last start of the season and third versus the Mets. Eickhoff is coming off of an 8-2 win at Washington where he allowed both runs on five hits in seven frames.

The over is 23-5 in New York’s last 28 road games and the Mets  are 24-6 in their last 30 road games while going 36-16 in their last 52 games on grass. Philadelphia are 3-15 in their last 18 Thursday games and the over is 34-11-6 in their last 51 home games while going  17-7 in their last 24 Thursday games. The Mets usually win this match up an generally runs are scored but with no starter named I have to wait…
