The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Houston Astros face off on Saturday for game two of their MLB series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks were never in it on Friday as they were pummeled by the Astros. Peter O’Brien hit a home run, Aaron Hill had three hits, and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit as the Diamondbacks scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa allowed six hits and four runs while striking out four over 3.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 14-9 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Diamondbacks start Jeremy Hellickson who has allowed 144 hits and 72 earned runs while striking out 118 over 141 innings for a 9-11 record and a 4.60 ERA.

The Houston Astros maintained their spot as the final Wildcard team in the AL as they beat the Diamondbacks on Friday. George Springer, Carlos Correa, Colby Rasmus, and Luis Valbuena each hit home runs as the Astros scored 21 runs on 19 hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed six hits and two runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to get his 20th win of the season. For Saturday’s game the Astros start Collin McHugh who has allowed 201 hits and 87 earned runs while striking out 165 over 196.2 innings for an 18-7 record and a 3.98 ERA.
Arizona is 4-1 in game two of a series, 1-4 in their last five Saturday games, and 6-2 in Hellickson’s last eight home starts. Houston is 7-1 in their last eight interleague road games, 5-2 in their last seven games, and 5-1 in McHugh’s last six starts. Houston is 6-1 in their last seven games against Arizona.
I look fo the Astros to keep it rolling here and to get the win.
