Progressive Field and the Cleveland Indians host the Boston Red Sox in Saturday action.
The Boston Red Sox have been playing their best baseball even though that doesn’t mean anything at this point. The Red Sox had won six in a row but have now lost consecutive contests following an 8-2 defeat at Cleveland on Friday. Starter Henry Owens was charged with seven runs on ten hits over 4.1 frames to get the loss. The offense couldn’t keep pace on five hits and three walks with David Ortiz slamming a two run homer that scored Xander Bogaerts. Craig Breslow makes his second career start when he faces Cleveland on Saturday. Breslow did not get a decision in his first start despite tossing four scoreless innings.

The Cleveland Indians have not been playing well of late and are likely looking forward to the end of the year. The Indians did enjoy a big win Friday with everything clicking. Starter Josh Tomlin continued to pitch well with both runs given up on five hits and a pair of free passes through 6.1 innings to pick up the win. Tomlin received plenty of help on 12 hits and seven walks with Jerry Sands going deep and driving in two while Carlos Santana knocked in three and scored twice. The Indians turn to Corey Kluber for his final start of the year on Saturday. Kluber struggled the past two times out with eight runs plated on 12 hits over 9.2 innings of work.
The under is 8-2 in Boston’s last 10 overall and is 8-2 in their last 10 on grass while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 Saturday games. The over is 19-6-1 in Cleveland’s last 26 home games while the Indians are 4-9 in their last 13 Saturday games and are 7-3 in Kluber’s last 10 Saturday starts. The over is 12-5-1 in the last 18 starts. Kluber has struggled against Boston and Breslow probably won’t go deep so I lean over…
