Starter Keyvius Sampson was charged with four runs over five frames before Collin Balester served up a two run walkoff homer in the 12th. The Reds managed eleven hits with Eugenio Suarez going 2-6 with a homer and three RBI’s while Jay Bruce drove in a run and scored. Rookie Brian Finnegan faces off with the Pirates for his 4th start of the season. Finnegan absorbed a 5-1 loss at Washington last time out with three runs plated on eight hits over five frames.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are patiently awaiting the Wild Card match up with the rival Cubs. The Pirates had dropped two of three before Saturday’s late win kept the team in the Wild Card lead. Starter Francisco Liriano was charged with all four runs through five innings before six relievers put up zeros. The Buccos only had seven hits but walked six times with Andrew McCutchen going deep and scoring twice before Starling Marte smacked a two run walk off in the 12th. The Pirates send AJ Burnett to the bump in game two of their series with visiting Cincinnati. Burnett comes off of a 4-0 loss to the Cubs with two runs scored on seven hits in six innings.
