The Detroit Tigers finish off the season at U.S. Cellular Field versus the Chicago White Sox.
The Detroit Tigers haven’t been able to get much going the past few weeks and will be looking to make changes in the offseason. The struggles continued in a 4-3 at the White Sox on Saturday to saddle the team with losses in eight of eleven. Justin Verlander was great with a pair of runs scored on five hits over six frames before Neftali Perez giving up two runs in the bottom of the 9th to absorb the loss. The bats logged eight hits and walked four times with Miguel Cabrera going 3-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while James McCann knocked in another run. Left hander Daniel Norris will be looking for his third win of the year against the White Sox. Norris has posted a 2-2 record in 12 starts with a 1.27 WHIP and 4.09 ERA.

The Chicago White Sox haven’t had many positives the past week or so with both the arms and bats struggling. The White Sox had dropped five of six heading in to Saturday before some late heroics at the plate saved the day. Starter Erik Johnson did not get a decision with two runs plated on five hits through 6.1 frames before Dan Jennings blew the save with a 9th inning run given up. The CWS managed eight hits and walked four times with pinch hitter JB Shuck driving in a run and scoring. The White Sox send Francellis Montas out to face the dangerous Tigers on Sunday afternoon. Altogether Montas has an 0-1 record in eleven innings pitched where he has posted a 5.73 ERA.
Detroit are 2-12 in their last 14 Sunday games and the over is 13-5 in their last 18 Sunday games while going 34-14-3 in their last 51 road games. The under is 9-3 in Chicago’s last 12 overall and is 9-3 in their last 12 on grass while going 4-10 in their last 14 Sunday games. I don’t have a clue what Montas will do so I’ll go over…
