The New York Mets and the Washington Nationals face off on Sunday at Citi Field as they close out the 2015 MLB regular seasons.
The New York Mets aren’t closing out their season with any kind of positive momentum as they have lost theur last five games. On Saturday in game two of their double header against the Nationals they were no hit for the second time this season. Regardless of the Mets’ recent showing they ran away with National League East riding pitching and just enough hitting to string together enough wins to be one if the hottest teams since the All Star Break. For Sunday’s game the Mets start Jacob deGrom who has allowed 149 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 198 over 187 innings for a 14-8 record and a 2.60 ERA.

The hopes were high for the Washington Nationals this season as they added talent to their already strong team last off-season. The biggest news the Nats made last off-season was acquiring Max Scherzer who has done his part. Scherzer has been victimized all season by poor run support and errant fielding but he also has two no hitters this season. Bryce Harper is a strong candidate for National League MVP and Stephen Strasburg pitched as well as ever once he was finally 100 percent. For Sunday’s season finale the Nationals start Tanner Roark who has allowed 116 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 64 over 105 innings for a 4-7 record and a 4.63 ERA.
New York is 1-6 at home against a right-handed starter, 0-8 against the NL East, and 10-3 in deGrom’s last 13 starts. Washington is 9-2 in their last 11 road games, 11-5 following a win, and 1-4 in Rourke’s last five starts against the NL East. Washington is 40-15 in their last 65 games in New York.
The Mets have been awful recently but look for them to get it together here and get the win.
