The Pittsburgh Pirates look for a season ending win against the visiting Cincinnati Reds.
The Cincinnati Reds are suffering through a miserable finish to the season. The Reds losing streak ended at 13 with a 3-1 victory at PNC Park on Saturday with starter Brandon Finnegan allowing the lone run on three hits over six frames to get the win. The offense mustered six hits and walked four times with Adam Duvall going solo while Joey Votto and Todd Frazier drove in runs. Cincinnati ends the season with rookie Joshua Smith on the bump who is still searching for his first victory. Smith has gone 0-3 in six starts where he has posted a 7.22 ERA.

The Pittsburgh Pirates might still have a game remaining but are surely thinking about the Wild Card. The Pirates never got their offense untracked in Saturday’s defeat which squandered a solid performance from AJ Burnett who gave up all three runs on five hits and four bases on balls through 6.2 innings. That was still to much for the Buccos four hit, two walk attack that saw Gregory Polanco single in Josh Harrison. Left hander JA Happ to the mound hoping he remains hot heading in to the playoffs. Happ has been outstanding since joining the Pirates with a 6-2 record and 2.04 ERA in ten outings.
Cincinnati are 5-21 in their last 26 Sunday games and are 15-41 in their last 56 overall while going 15-41 in their last 56 games on grass. Pittsburgh are 10-3 in their last 13 overall and are 10-3 in their last 13 games on grass while going 21-8 in their last 29 Sun. games. The over is 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings. I will lean Pittsburgh but I’m not sure they care about a meaningless game…
