The Toronto Blue Jays look to keep their season alive with another win at the Texas Rangers on Monday.
The Toronto Blue Jays avoided getting swept in the ALDS with a 5-1 victory at the Rangers to cut the series deficit to 2-1. The Blue Jays came up huge in all areas with starter Marco Estrada allowing the lone run on five hits over seven innings of work to pick up the win. The offense totaled nine hits and walked five times with Troy Tulowitzki swinging the big bat with a 2-4 night with a homer and four RBI’s as the offense finally broke free a bit. Knuckleballer RA Dickey heads to the mound on Monday to even the ALDS with the Rangers. On the season the veteran has gone 11-11 with a 3.91 ERA covering 33 starts.

The Texas Rangers had been a surprise in taking both games of the ALDS at the Rogers Centre. However their dream of pulling off the sweep of the big hitting Blue Jays went by the wayside in Sunday’s defeat. Nothing went favorably for the AL West winners as starter Martin Perez struggled with four runs given up on six hits and three free passes through five innings pitched. The offense managed only five hits and did not walk with Rougned Odor singling in Elvis Andrus with the lone run.The Rangers are hoping to wrap up the ALDS with Derek Holland on the bump to oppose the Blue Jays. Holland has logged a 4-3 record in ten starts with a 4.91 ERA over 58.2 frames.
RA Dickey needs to have movement on his knuckleball to keep the Rangers offense at bay and he can be tough if he is on. Holland hasn’t been great in about 1/3 of a season and I’m tempted to back either the Blue Jays or the over so please check back for updates…
