The New York Mets go for the sweep of the Chicago Cubs and punch their ticket to the World Series.
The New York Mets moved to within a win of heading to the World Series with a 5-2 victory at Wrigley Field for a 3-0 series lead. Starter Jacob deGrom was dominant once again with both runs given up on a pair of solo homers over seven frames to pick up the win. New York did their damage on eleven hits and three bases on balls with Daniel Murphy going deep and scoring twice while Yoenis Cespedes drove in two and scored followed by a two run night from David Wright. The Mets task rookie Steven Matz with pitching his team past the Cubs in game four of the NLCS. Matz dropped a 3-1 decision to the Dodgers in the NLDS with three runs plated on six hits and two BB over five frames.

The Chicago Cubs looked like a team of destiny following the NLDS win versus the Cardinals. However the momentum didn’t carry over in to the ALCS which they now trail 3-0 and are facing elimination on Wednesday. Starter Kyle Hendricks gave up a pair of runs through four frames before Trevor Cahill gave up a run and Travis Wood, two. The Cubbies offense was held in check on five hits and a walk with Kyle Schwarber and Jorge Soler connecting on solo jacks. Jason Hammel toes the rubber looking to keep his team alive in the NLCS versus the Mets. Hammel did not get a decision in a 6-4 win versus St Louis in the NLCS with two runs allowed over three innings.
New York are 21-6 in their last 27 road games and the over is 25-8 in their last 33 road games. Chicago are 25-8 in their last 33 home games and are 4-12 in their last 16 playoff games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 home games. New York are 2-9 in the last 11 meetings and the under is 7-2-2 in the last 11 meetings. Matz might not be the best pitching option but I’ll back the hot team…
